We hope you’ll join us in celebrating all of Durham’s rising kindergartners at our Kindergarten Registration Celebration, tonight from 5-8 at Hillside High School (3727 Fayetteville Rd., Durham 27707). This event is the culmination of a weeklong community-wide effort to make sure children and families are enrolled and ready for school!
Throughout the week, volunteers distributed registration packets at local businesses, and packets were also given to child care centers and local agencies. So far, more than 2,500 registration packets have been handed out to children and families all over Durham!
At the celebration tonight, parents will be able to get one-on-one assistance from Durham Public Schools staff as they complete the registration forms. They’ll also be able to schedule their Kindergarten Health Assessment appointments and receive a ton of other resources. The event will also feature a lot of fun activities too! Here are a few things to look forward to:
- Food trucks: Dang Good Dogs and Captain Cookie & the Milk Man
- Face painting, bubbles, balloon animals and other fun games and activities
- Crafts with Scrap Exchange
- Experience Destination Literacy, your Durham County Library Bookmobile
- See and touch a fire truck and meet firefighters
- Hang out with Wool E. Bull
- Free prizes for every child who registers at the event!
